Australia Future Health Leaders Program 2025
My name is Rose, year 11 2025, and these photos document my experience in being one of twelve girls around Australia, chosen to take part in the AbbVie and Research Australia Future Health Leaders Program 2025. This is the program's second year running and it was an amazing experience that showed me that there are so many pathways we often don’t hear about, from medical research and biotechnology, to health policy, public health, and innovation. Women are still underrepresented in many of these areas, and we need more of us stepping into these spaces, asking big questions, and shaping the future of healthcare. If you’re curious, passionate, or even just interested, I encourage you to explore the health sciences. You might find a field you love and a way to make real change.
Throughout the program, I had the chance to connect with passionate health professionals, researchers, and leaders who are shaping the future of healthcare in Australia. I gained valuable insights into the challenges we face in areas such as innovation, equity, and accessibility, and most importantly, I learned how young people like us can play a role in driving meaningful change.
Meeting other passionate young women from across the country showed me the power of collaboration and how important it is to have diverse voices shaping the future of health. It was inspiring to see that our voices matter, even as students.
Having the opportunity to participate in the discussions in Parliament, where I felt the true impact of young voices in health leadership, emphasised the moment that leadership isn’t about age or title, but about courage, curiosity, and the willingness to step up.
I really encourage anyone who is interested to apply for this program next year. It’s an opportunity to learn, to grow, and to see just how many doors the health sector can open.
Kind Regards,
Rose
